Weeeeee’re
Back.

Alright die hards, here is the latest news on everyones favorite
subject of late, O.C's "Starchild" album.
For those new to Earth and don't know, the album has been
shelved until we get a few legal monkies off of our backs.
We are working feverishly to clear up any and all loose ends
so we can release the album we want in North America. The
album will feature Madlib, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, Soul Supreme,
The Locsmif just to name a few (if anyone...ANYONE..has Primo's
new cel number, please email it to us). We received about
300 overages from the final run at the pressing plant and
considering the die hard fans that had been waiting months
for the album appeared to be #ss out, we decided to hit the
web and giveaway
all the copies we had x and pay the shipping might I add until
they were all gone
(250 to be exact and we were going to keep the last 50 for
posterity). wow. Apparently there are a bunch of real Hip-Hop
heads out there because we received about 2,000 requests for
the album. Stores in smaller European territories even went
so far as to send us back excess stock (which is in route
as we speak) and tried to reclaim it after we announced it
would be discontinued worldwide until we sorted out the formalities
of several songs. Oh well. Their loss is your gain. The heads
that hit me up past the initial 250 will get a copy until
I run out. I will give out as many as I can simply because
they took the time to say they cared about Hip-Hop music.
And those are exactly who we want to make music for. While
sites like Hiphopsite.com,
undergroundhiphop.com and
sandbox continue
to sell out of their remaining supply we decided to support
the fans because...well..it has never really been done. We
feel that the untimely actions of a 'select few' who have
derailed our plans for "starchild" can certainly
encourage us to comply with their 'protocol' but they can
never silence pure, uncut hip-hop so we gave the album away.
We feel that if you like the album, keep it alive in file
sharing networks and forums that support yousendit.com links.
We own the masters and we give you full permission to spread
the Starchild virus wherever you can get online. If you are
one of the very few that got one of the 20,000 copies, take
it to an O.C. show (check the Heiro website) and get him to
sign it. Hold it up and rep real sh*t. Real Hip-Hop doesn't
take place inside a candy shop and costs more than half a
dollar. Enjoy a heartfelt LP that is "feel good music
at its finest". Damn, I love the 90's and that is NOT
a VH1 thing. Evolve wit me

Aighh. Here is some news we were not hoping to announce.
It is official as of Friday that the O.C. Starchild album
is immediately shelved due to sample clearance issues stemming
from 4 tracks from the import album that were going to be
included on the re-worked North American version. O.C. has
an album called Rebel Music being released on Heiro that was
due to come out in few months after being set up by the U.S.
version of Starchild. Unfortunately, this cannot happen as
Starchild will never see the light of day in the U.S. in its
current state. Given the inevitable cannibalization of both
albums if Starchild is released upon immediately clearing
these songs, we have opted to shelve the album and rework
from the ground up. Due to this unfortunate set of events
we have no choice but to pull the album and allow fans to
enjoy Rebel Music and whet their appetite for the eventual
re-configured version of Starchild. The versions that you
see being sold online will serve as the very last incarnation
of this album. Starchild will be reborn with new material
and reconstructed with new vocals and beats by Pete Rock.
This will be an un-cut version that will be the album we wanted
D.I.T.C fans to have featuring production from some authentic
underground producers. I am very disappointed to keep this
project on ice even longer. Fans that want the "dope
album 2005 never heard of" then head to places like Hiphopsite.com,
sandboxautomatic.com
and undergroundhiphop.com.

Why is O.C.'s new album Starchild the talk of the town? Find
out for yourself.
The album is a platinum download at free mp3 sites (shame
on you for hitting us in the pockets like that). Nah, but
seriously folks, we actually encourage you to download the
album if you can't find a copy of the limited edition import.
If you have a copy of it, rip it and share with your homies.
My point is that everyone should experience this type of emcee
at least once in their lifetime. There are more and more reviews
popping up on this album and here are a couple. Internet Hip-Hop
Mega-Site Allhiphop.com has some very choice words for Starchild
which you can read here.
We really dig the fact that everyone is feeling this records
and there are bootleg copies of vinyl floating around the
net as well from Word of Mouth. God bless 'em. I won't knock
another mans hustle but at least let me master it for you,
damn. Anyway, the U.S. version is coming along nicely and
it looks like none other than Soul Survivor himself, Mr. Pete
Rock will be laying down a few gems. I wish I had more copies
of the import to give away but rest assured that this is a
labor of love and when you hear it, you will understand why.
Peace die hard Hip-Hop Fans.

Peace people. For those that didn't catch wind, we had 200
copies of the O.C. import that
we gave away. These were our only copies (as of today) and
we were flooded with requests to get an original copy of a
dope, limited edition release import. Rest assured that the
U.S. version will raise the bar even higher and will have
a few more gems and some surprise remixes. Anyway, the first
100 were sent out however due to customs issues, the second
100 wont go out until this week. We are deeply sorry. If you
received your copy and you are diggin it, burn a copy and
give it to your homie. We will have an announcement soon about
who will be manning the production duties for the U.S. version
and we will see if they can raise the stakes. The import was
pretty damn dope according to most of you. We feel good about
having the public vibe to what we are all about. Im not a
hater, so if you see the album online for free, download it.
We would appreciate the support if you can swing it especially
for the U.S version when it eventually comes out. A certain
guy named Pete has been vibing with the vocals for a minute
and is promising to cook up something dope. If you can cop
it, please do but if not then thats cool. Keep bumping the
download let people know that 'that 90's shit is still aiight'.

O.C. "Starchild"
has been quietly stirring up some dust in various Hip-Hop
hotspots. We knew the album was a throwback to vintage 90's
Hip-Hop, but to have some of you label it "Album
to Beat" for 2005 already is a bit much. We appreciate
the love. Trust us. But we don't need the added pressure.
The U.S. version is gonna be full of surprises and all I have
to say is DAMN, I can't wait for you all to get your hands
on it. For those of you that are wondering what the hooplah
is all about, you can get your hands on a very VERY limited
edition Import version from Sandbox,
Undergroundhiphop.com or Hiphopsite.com.
We have come to realize that real music wins no matter what,
thats why we are so amped to see that many of you are feeling
the little teaser album we tossed out in Japan. I heard from
a reliable source that it has been bootlegged heavily in Europe.
No worries. Add fuel to the fire. The US version is gonna
be dope as well and we are giving away an mp3 of the 12"
called Evaridae feat. Pharoahe Monch
but really want you all to cop the vinyl when we drop it in
May. For those of you that don't know, all of our vinyl pressings
are limited to 5,000 copies only (worldwide) so if you dig
what we are doing, cop a momento and support the scene.
Oh, if you can't afford the import, don't worry, we are on
some cool sh*t. Download it. You really need to hear it to
understand.

Fresh off the heels of KEEP RIGHT and Grit City, KRS-ONE has
set up shop on the left coast to further the education of
the Hip-Hop masses. For those that missed the rare opportunity
to catch KRS-ONE rip a mic, catch the Hip-Hop Peace &
Unity Fest DVD '03. But wait. There is a LOT more that you
are going to want to cop while you are at it. The Hip-Hop
Peace & Unity Fest '40 DVD: Live From Toronto has just
been completed and contains some very very ILL footage of
CL Smooth rocking the stage for 10,000 Tdot natives. It also
features Special Ed, Dj Revolution, Jeru performing ALL of
the classics and much much more. In addition to visuals, we
got you covered on the audio front as well. The long anticipated
O.C. album "Starchild" has just been released in
Japan in limited quantites and we have the import version
right here months ahead of the very very different U.S. version.
Soul Supreme is in the lab currently with another Hip-Hop
Legend cooking up some magic. nuff said. Be on the look out
for a worldwide release of a new instrumental track by Soul
Supreme FREE on the Grit Records website. For all of you that
said previously that you couldn't afford a beat from one of
Sweden's finest, we are giving up a track here for all to
rip and record to. The one that kills it best can have it
for a project of their choice. Merry Gritmas!

KRS-ONE is still on tour tearing down mics in every city.
For those that don't know, KRS-ONE is still spittin'! Congratulations
to the Blastmaster on being honored by VH1 for his contributions
to Hiphop. A lot of heads got their ego checked when they
stepped to Kris and now they see that Knowlegde DOES Reign
Supreme. In other news, Grit City Vol. 1 is still the buzzword
so for those that don't have it, make sure you peep the next
generation of ill emcees. Be on the lookout for the new O.C.
album sometime in the near future and be sure to check for
the new single he just completed with Pharoahe Monch entitled
"Evaridae (Everyday)". Vintage

9/21/04
Grit City Vol. 1 hits stores and man was it worth the wait.
Aside from the fact that KRS-ONE continues ripping clubs across
the country and showing emcees that although he is much more
peaceful these days, he can still get busy he comes correct
in featuring some kats that recently got loose on his 13th
albums. Back to Grit City, KRS-ONE comes off lovely on the
Soul Supreme Remix of Still Spittin' from KEEP
RIGHT. This album features the grimiest of the grimey
and is reminiscent of the Golden Era of Hip-Hop. Cop it and
get a bonus video from T-MAX (Unsigned Hype) called "What
Would You Do". Many of you first got to know Todd Maxwell
on the #1 College 12" from Soul
Supreme feat. Pete Rock and AG called "Queen (Hip-Hop)".
Here is your chance to here T rip it for delf. Cop Grit City
Vol. 1 at your local Hip-Hop spot or at www.hiphopsite.com.

The new scorcher from KRS-ONE is still moving some units.
As long as there are supporters of REAL Hiphop out there,
then it will continue to connect with the public. KRS-ONE
recently celebrated his birthday out in California and what
better way than to rock a stage in front of several hundred
soldiers. If you haven't grabbed the new KEEP RIGHT album
and Peace & Unity Fest DVD, you are definitely sleeping.
Where else are you gonna see KRS-ONE rock like that.
7/29/04
KEEP RIGHT is the #2 seller on Caroline Distribution so a
LOT of heads are feeling the new fire. Dj's have been asking
for the acapellas left and RIGHT so we will do our best to
accomodate everyone. Make sure you peep the Hip-Hop Peace
Fest DVD as well. If you thought the Bonus DVD with KEEP RIGHT
was on point, wait until you see KRS-ONE and KANE rip the
same stage in front of 40,000 fans. If you can't take the
heat, KEEP LEFT. -nuff said
7/23/04
The NEW KRS-ONE album has charted and receiving some attention
on the Billboard charts. The Blastmaster will be receiving
a prestigious award from the Media Giant in Miami at the Billboard
Hip-Hop/R & B Conference. In addition to that, KRS-ONE
rocked the house at the DEF POETRY JAM a while back and will
finally be airing soon. If you have never seen KRS-ONE rock
a mic, find your way to a concert soon and see how the Original,
and Best-To-Ever-Do-It gets loose. KEEP RIGHT OR YOU'RE GONNA
GET LEFT!
7/20/04
After a week on the shelves, the Blastmaster's latest offering
is gathering a lot of praise. Many fans and loyal Hip-Hop
patrons havn't even tapped into the enhanced DVD that contains
some very dope hidden gems. In addition to a lot of bonus
material, there are some files on their that can only be accessed
by exploring the CD-ROM. There is a 8 minute clip from the
Hip-Hop Peace & Unity Fest where KRS-ONE and ripped the
mic and left the stage as 35,000 Hip-Hop fans tore the house
down. Check it out. Many places have already sold thru their
initial shipment so we apologize in advance if your local
record store is all out. The vinyl will drop in about a week
and we apologize to all the DJs that have been clamoring for
it. Feel free to rock the 12" for Illegal Business Remix
2004 and My Mind Is Racing until then. A very prominant video
channel want to air the music video that is included on the
DVD but is asking that the scenes dedicated to the grafitti
writers taggin the train be removed. Come on people. Jay-Z
can get killed in a video but the Teacha can't represent the
real Hip-Hop movement? Let's get it together!
7/13/04
After a long tour of duty resuscitating
the underground, Grit Records is back on the grind. What better
way to light a fire under mainstream Hip-Hop than a NEW album
from Blastmaster KRS-ONE! The number 13 is a lucky number
indeed. On July, 13th, KRS-ONE drops his 13th album KEEP RIGHT
on his new imprint Grit Records. This album marks the first
project on KRS’ own independent label since CRIMINAL
MINDED. The enhanced CD contains an hour long lecture on the
Hip-Hop history, interview with Chuck D of Public Enemy, over
40 pages of writings from the Blastmaster and additional video
content. Whew. In addition, the CD is packaged with a bonus
DVD with footage of KRS-ONE as a teenager preparing to lead
the Hip-Hop culture and rare clips of KRS-ONE on the front
lines of the movement. As a co-founder of Grit Records, KRS-ONE
has released a landmark album, but don’t take our word
for it. In addition to KEEP RIGHT, we are dropping the landmark
DVD for the Hip-Hop Peace & Unity Fest on the same day.
This DVD contains 2 ½ hours of the highest quality
video footage shot from 8 cameras and features lengthy performances
from KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Skillz, PMD and many more. Make
sure you get your copy today.
